Decatone: Spiral cords or as we called them in the UK curly leads were still quite popular in the mid 70′s but from what I remember disappeared quickly by the late 70′s. I remember many a time you’d walk too far from your amp and either the guitar or the amp end would fly out and either clack your amp or guitar The other thing they’d do was lock themselves round symbol stands and the like… how the hell they were ever invented I’ll never know.

Ed was such a tone freak, I wonder why he used that “curly cord.” You’d think he’d have some cord preference that he’d never vary from.
