I did recently. I bought my youngest son one of the 1980 Invasion t-shirts off of ebay. Definitely a vintage shirt and in great condition. Crazy thing is there are a few of them for $100-$150 each. I picked this one up for $39.00. He really likes the movie Real Steel too and it is the same shirt the kid in the movie was wearing.

Another funny purchase I had on there a few months back was an auction for the 2012 tote bag and t-shirt that the VIP package included. I won the auction and with shipping the total came to $51.50.

There’s some cool lookin shirts there, but some of them want an arm and 2 legs for em. Sadly I only have 1 shirt left I bought from the concerts I went to back in the 80′s and that’s only cause It would not fit me than and now it does (lol).

Patience is the key. I’ve waited up to 2 years to find the item I want on ebay or whatever at the price I want. If you are willing to sit around for the right price, it will come up eventually. It’s SUPER hard to wait it out, but timing is everything. (I’m not talking VH gear, but I think it holds true for whatever it is you’re looking for).

This. I just recently scored a shirt for about a third of what some people are asking and actually paying for them. The funy thing is that nobody else even bid on it.

That is just crazy. I thought the $499,00 Van Halen shirts were bad, that takes the cake.

I dug and found my 3/4 black sleeve 1984 shirt (eagle on front, big brother on back).
Bit faded, no way it would fit me, but the wife loved it for the show

My big question would be…..How do you know if the shirt is authentic, or just a replica?

I wouldn’t think it too difficult to copy a vintage VH shirt, and make it look like the original.

The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!!

From my experience the “vintage” ones are somewhat faded, usually 3/4 sleeve as most concert shirts back in the 80′s were, at least there was that option. I bought a replica 1984 shirt off ebay 5 years ago that was a black t-shirt, very good quality and the silk screening to this day still looks new. I have 2 of the 3/4 length ones from when I went to the show in 1984 but they were an adult small and I take an xl to an xxl now.

I use to have a bunch of shirts w/ the 3/4 sleeves. I have one left adult small. Black w/ white sleeves. The picture on fron is of Kiss “heaven’s on fire tour” The isde sleeves have a picture of Paul with Kiss below him (one clour : blue). The back is a picture of Gene and Paul with kiss belowe them. I use to have twisted sister, motley crue, ratt, judas preist, iron maiden, wasp, venom, scorpions, etc………………………………..

I think the main thing is to know your limit on what u want to spend. I see the same name buying lot of the shirts.

I must like replying to my own posts (lol). Some groups tend to go for more than others and sometimes the price is just to high right from the start. I allways think I’m goin to get out bidded. There are some cool sites out there on collecting shirts with some very cool collections. Over the past 3 1/2 years I have went from 205 to 172 lbs (at least on the wii that’s what it tells me).
