Besides dimeadozen it seems like some of my favorite torrent sites from the past don’t have the activity they use to.Jam to this is barely ever active anymore it once use to be a great place.Traders den does not have the amount of dvd activity it use to a few years ago. Also it seems hungercity is having server issues or they are always closed down asking for donations.Even zomb is not active as it use to be.

Not sure if I missed any.Personaly I like trading but I like collecting things online I would of never thought of getting before.

I heard about hunger city. Seems like a lot of people think that the guy running the site is a scammer. I don’t know one way or the other about that.

One thing I’ve noticed about torrents that I upload (mostly) at Dime is that the number of downloads has decreased over the years. I also suspect that of those who do download DVDs that I upload (pretty much all first time releases) – not many of them actually watch them. The cumulative effect of ten years or so of torrenting has resulted in there being a ton of stuff available and since it’s basically all free – people download lots and lots of stuff – but don’t have time to watch most of it.

It comes down to availability. As torrents have increased, your ‘favorite’ site will have what you need. I started with Dime, not even realizing the volume of sites out there. Dime is my goto site for looking. Majority of time I find what I need. Since the same torrent is appearing on 5 different sites, we will see a round of survival of the fittest for the sites to continue.

Bingo! I, personally, have stopped downloading audio and video for a while for that very reason.

I use to download other bands from torrent sites when I discovered torrents, but now I have so much Van Halen to go through…. I quit doing that awhile back.

Honestly, if Van Halen released as much pro shot stuff as Rush, or KISS…. I wouldn’t have probably even bothered with bootlegs.

The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!!

I’m totally bummed. I have felt the same way about torrent sites drying up but I miss it. I too have lots of stuff but still love “the hunt”. I will always keep searching and hope my favorite bands pop up on dime, JTT etc. or a new site enters the scene.

I miss it.

I don’t know if Torrent Sites are dying but the activity does seem to ebb and flow. I think there are various reasons for this. I think there were too many torrent sites at one point and there needed to be a correction. There were people who settled into different sites and looked for specific sites. I also believe that some people got burnt out and were downloading just to download and cut back because they weren’t watching or listening to what they got. I also know some tapers and uploaders who became frustrated by leaches who just grabbed and grabbed and never bothered to say thank you or never contributed. They kinda backed off. There seems to be a number of different reasons but it all comes around and stuff is still traded and torrent sites will still continue on. Just my opinion.

How about trading sites ?

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

They’re still good for the occasional trade . . . but have largely been relegated to a place for middle-aged white guys to mostly talk about they’re favorite rock bands and tits . . . not necessarily in that order.

i know what you mean. I kinda got into the excitement of the hunt. For me mostly VH. If I heard a show is out there…trying to find it is kind of fun in some ways. Finally getting to the download and expanding the collection. seems some torrent activity has slowed down a bit… plus at this point I have almost every VH bootleg so for me to find a new boot i don’t have… it’s gotta be pretty rare.

Kind of anwering my own question but wanted to know what others thought.
I collect way more bands then just VH and it has really slowed down for most artists since I started downloading over six years ago.Trading is slower also.I trade with lots of the same guys I have been for along time but it’s hard to find new traders. There is also too much NFT and RT.Also just cuase it’s a new bootleg does not mean its worth having my favorite band is Metallica and I can’t belive some of the shit people put out.No one needs a new show with half the songs missing or some bad youtube sourced junk or something you can barely see cause the angles are so bad or filmed from far away if it was filmed within the last 5 years or even after the 90s.
I personaly prefer to trade online now is fast and easy. The postage rates to Europe and even Canada are not worth it unless its something you cant find anywhere else anymore. Also you don’t have to worry about replacing discs because for somereason they don’t work in someones player or some error you did not catch went out.Unfortunatley some countries have a cap on donwload so that cuts down on who I trade with.I’m not gonna spend a grip of money on shows I can get for free elsewhere if I’m patient. Not to mention you can put the shows on the media you prefer yourself or just delete them if they were not what you thought they would be.
As far as torrent sites I don’t like to upload to dime cause they pull torrents down for every little thing I’m suprised so many people over there do.I really use to like to upload on jam to this but for awhile it was just the same few guys.Nothing was more annoying the some rookie with a bad ratio asking someone too upload or seed a show.I was starting too upload to hungercity but every month now the site runner is shutting it down and begging for donations.
Not to mention I trade with lots of guys who spend lots of time authoring shows(something I respect and wish I knew how to do)many of them just don’t want there stuff uploaded on torrent sites.
All in all I have such a big collection and still download a couple shows a week I just wish I could find more people to do online trades with.

Man I miss Demonoid. They had the some obscure stuff on that site. Because of the way it was set up I could spend hours just going through the files and not download anything.
