EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”.

Here’s pic. Assume that’s a shop/area inside 5150. Looks a bit messy but I do like the old school EVH pics randomly hanging around

Looks like a polished stealth finish? Definitely not a gloss black.

Are the Specials made in Japan?

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

A few keen eyes from links…

Do I spot an EBMM on the workbench behind him?

Zoom feature…
Lots of D’addarios boxes behind him..
Also, remember the inside cover of FUCK and the chalk board with the_____-______?

Yeah I love that black finish too. Looks like it certainly could be an EBMM on the bench. Looks like he removed the floyd. Interesting!!!

Ugh.. I was afraid of that… That’s a complete turn-off for me – anyone else feel the same way? IMO it cheapens the line.. why bother?

Me too… it’s shiny, but it’s not… i wonder if it’s a 1-off for this auction? Maybe he buffed out a Stealth? I’m really digging it!

I don’t know why so many people hate on the specials now that they are assembled in China. They still use the same parts. I was told that the plant in Japan burned down, & rather than rebuild, they moved to a building in China because of costs. I have owned 3 Japan Specials, & currently own a prototype set neck, arch top Special that was made in China. It’s called a custom standard, & the fit & finish is as good as any of the Japan guitars I have owned. Made in China doesn’t have to mean poor quality.

Well, I didn’t care for them being made in Japan either. I guess there’s a sense of cheap labor = cheap quality. If they can produce, ship and sell a Special for 1/3 of the price of a U.S. model and still stay within their profit margin there has to be some corner cutting somewhere – or at least I would think so. I don’t know about the current Fender versions, but the Korean Peavey Wolfgangs weren’t up to par with the US versions. It’s reassuring to hear that you’re pleased with the overall quality though.. and like I said, It’s perception, which may or may not be reality.

I played both the MIJ and MIC Specials. They seem to be identical build wise and they don’t play bad at all… I thought the craftsmanship is decent and the price is quite affordable for a Wolf.
