Not holding my breath. I would think they would need an album to do a tour on, and seems getting everyone on the same page anymore has become increasingly more difficult. By the time the band puts together an album, tour plans etc….let’s face it, like a lot of us, they are not getting any younger. He did great this time, but pounding the skins, I would think becomes more difficult night after night. The band sounded great this time around. I guess buttom line, if they would do another tour, it would be select cities and half the size of this tour. I do hope that they consider releasing a new project.

This tour was so much better than I was expecting… good for them for coming out and letting us have it. I do wonder about the immediate future.. I feel they should take this energy in to the studio and crank one out, but I don’t see it happening. IMO, we’ll get Wolf’s project, Ed will tell us how mind blowing it and Dave will disappear somewhere overseas. It was good in 2015.

I still can’t help but wonder why Dave’s entire social media and web presence just vanished into thin air. It seems like he just said, “Screw it. I’m done.” and just let everything go. Strange…

I agree that they should ride this wave of positivity right into the studio … but I would imagine they are (rightfully) thinking more along the lines of, “I just want to take a long break and relax for a while.” And after they are done relaxing and ready to get back to it, everyone will have gone their separate ways and is doing whatever, and all the momentum from the tour is long gone. And we’re back to square one.

So assuming they do carry on … we’re probably looking at 2018, at which time Al will be 65 and Ed & Dave will be 63. There certainly are plenty of musicians out there in that age range who are still going strong. And I think Ed and Dave still have another album in them and the band has another tour in them. Hopefully the time apart and their lives outside of Van Halen (the band) don’t cause them to drift away to the point that they can’t or don’t want to ever get back together again. Fortunately, making an album no longer requires band members to actually work together in a studio, so Dave could do his thing (probably in Japan) and Ed could do it at 5150 – and they could still come up with something.

Only time will tell…

In a perfect world, they create the swan song album in the same room together.. make it count.

I agree, that was very strange. Even if he didn’t want to update his site at the very least pay for the domain registration and hold on to it. It doesn’t cost that much, especially for DLR. I wonder if the person or company he left that up to quit or was fired and nobody thought of it until it expired and was too late.

Of course the conspiracy is that Ed told him you can’t have 2 websites. You are either in Van Halen or you’re not!

People become less flexible as they get older … and those two were never all that flexible to begin with. They haven’t been in the same room for a project in over 30 years … so the realist in me says it’s just not going to happen.

But as I said, the good news is that unlike the old days when being together in the same room was about the only way you could do it, they can easily do it apart from each other. It’s practically become the norm anymore.

I thought they did the last one separate anyway? Ed said they recorded the music and sent it to Dave for him to put lyrics to it and then those were sent back for mixing and mastering. That’s what I recall anyway.

I bet Dave put down the vocals for ADKOT back in 2010. His voice has changed a lot since then. I hear a huge difference between the 07-08 tour and the 2012 tour, including this last tour.

What would Dave sound like on a new studio album? I would be surprised if he sounded as good as he did on ADKOT.

We all know that Wolf, Ed, and Al could make a killer new album, but could Dave pull off the vocals?

They were down to just one “new” song by the end of the tour. I don’t think they see the value in creating new music for public consumption. I hope I’m wrong, of course.
It’s got be kind of depressing being an aging rock star – at least the part where everyone hits the restrooms during your new music.
