Everybody Wants Some: The Van Halen Saga [Unabridged] [Audible Audio Edition]
by Ian Christe (Author), Fred Berman (Narrator)

The first definitive biography of the ultimate American rock band

How did a pair of little Dutch boys trained in classical music grow up to become the nucleus of the most popular heavy metal band of all time? What’s the secret behind Eddie Van Halen’s incredible fast and furious guitar solos? What makes David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar so wacky? And, are all those stories about groupies, booze bashes, and contract riders true? The naked truth is laid bare in Everybody Wants Some – the real-life story of a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy come true.

yeh, Pete. Grab it used from your local Goodwill or AmazonUsed … got a new hardcover for $4.

It’s a decent read … well-written, comprehensive for its size (300pgs). But, there ain’t nothing new to be discovered here. Just a well-told story, especially for new fans. ~20 pages of mostly-color pix, nothing incredible. A couple good ones, tho. It’s worth a couple bucks; for your library, if you like quality books (I do).

I liked it better than any of the others I’ve read. Worth reading anyway. The VH Encyclopedia is my favorite for just info. I wish someone would write an unbiased story about the band. Something well researched about their entire legacy. EWS definitely leans on the Dave years, which is great, but I’m not reading the book for the author’s opinion. The EVH definitive biography was way worse as far as being opinionated. That book just pissed me off by the end of it. Anyway, I recommend EWS. It’s a nice addition to the collection. :)
