From VHND

Eddie Van Halen dropped by the Howie Weinberg Mastering Studio this week. Howie mastered Van Halen’s last album, A Different Kind of Truth. Hopefully Ed didn’t drop by to simply say hi—
could this visit have something to do with the mysterious Van Halen “project” that we reported on earlier this year?!
The above photo is from Howie’s facebook page. On July 10th, he posted it with, “Eddie Van Halen came by to visit Howie at his studio.”

I like that Ed is out and about.. I’ll contain my excitement for now though, but it’s promising.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

There is talk at other forums on the NEW PROJECT
could be
A live cd-DVD from 2012-13 Tour
A mini EP
Remastered old albums.
Brand new FULL ALBUM.
I would love a full brand new album..In VH land the way they do things it would be a quick turn around.
We already have done great boots from 12-13 Tour with outstanding picture and sound quality so a live DVD cd is not needed.
I am over best of’s or remastered CDs.
So a new album with 10 plus tracks with a Tour to follow would be a dream..

We don’t know what stage it is at but I think from demo stage to release date ADKOT would have been about 2 years.
If the last gigs were mid 2013 I would have thought mid 2015 would be enough time for a full length album.

OK, what we know is back in October, Dave said the project was being worked on and would take, “about 18 months”, so whatever the project is, don’t expect to see it until early 2015.

In February, we had this story: VAN HALEN Is Putting Together A New Album, Says MARK TREMONTI Read more: http://www.vhnd.com/2014/02/12/new-van-halen-music-in-the-works/#ixzz37kMPyBQp

And in April, Dave once again mentioned a new project.

So, it’s probably safe to say that this is the 2015 project we’ve been hearing about from the VH camp.

Until there is official word of something, I not holding my breath. I don’t see a whole lot of motivation for any project from Ed or Al.

Dave would have done another album by now. So whatever he says could be just wishful thinking.

The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!!

Dave wouldn’t be out saying there is a project in the works repeatedly if there was nothing going on. I know Ed has a history of pulling the plug on things, but he was also in a much different place in his life and in a different frame of mind. It seems things are moving along as expected, but the band as a whole has never been in the business of hyping projects as they are working on them. When they have something to release, you will hear what it is. In the mean time, Dave is just reporting what little he can report and that is “they are working on something”. Details to follow. My guess is it will be something similar to the way ADKOT was promoted. First of the year will being some teasers and trailers, some artwork, maybe a couple clips of songs, tour dates, some sort of public performances or appearances and then a tour or release of the project, whatever it may be. I would imagine it’s new stuff, but we won’t know until it’s in our grubby little mitts.

Not sure if it ties in but Tremonti guys are in Orlando working on new music and they are all there except Wolf.
