my old computer crashed and i want to know if i can put my old hard drive as slave in my new computer to get all my document back?thanks a lot

don’t put the drive internally into the computer if it has a operating system on it.that probably will cause problems…I would use a dock and connect it up thru a USB port..

Did the drive have anything to do with the crash? As long as it still functions, you should be OK. But as single-8 said, you should probably delete the operating software off of it.

I’ve hooked up a crashed OS as a slave, pulled all the files off of it and then wiped it out without any problems. I also bought a docking station for doing the same thing and that is much quicker and easier, but, unless there is a virus or some other risk to the new HDD, I think you can do it either way. Of course, if you’re using anything other than XP, I have no experience with this crap. ;)
