Welcome Chris,
I was at that same 1984 show as you were in Cincy.
Saw them a few weeks on either side of that show at Hara in Dayton, also. (my Dayton stub has the date torn off of it)

VH 82 in Cincy was my first show ever….friends dad took us, we were 13.

Where did you grow up?
sounds like you’ve probably ridden The Beast & The Bat, too, eh!

Grew up in Cincy, Anderson to be exact. Haven’t lived there since 1991, though. I used to love the Beast and The Bat! I probably rode those rides a hundred times. Used to have season passes to Kings Island. Man, I haven’t thought of The Bat in years! It’s not still there is it?

I left Ohio in 88.
But no, The Bat only existed something like 2 or 3 years. They had to tear it down due to continuous mechanical failures. Probably tore it down around `84 or so.

For others here, “The Bat” was a prototype roller coaster; it was “one of” the worlds first suspended roller coasters where the cars hung below the track and swung (swang?) (would swing!)

*and thanks for the dates, Ron!

The Bat footage starts at 1:45 in. (cutting edge for 1981, despite suspended roller coasters being pretty common these days)
Any one traveling through SW Ohio, should consider spending one day at Kings Island….a fantastic amusement park.

That footage is crazy! Flashback city! That’s exactly how I remember King Island.
