Now that I’m reading VHR, I think I’d go back and record one of the classic VH backyard parties. Or maybe the gig where they “parachuted” in – that’d be cool to have on video – including a Go-Pro POV from a parachutist… making sure to avoid close-ups!

so many would be good. VH 1981 is typically my go to favorite year. The pinnacle of everything Van Halen.

1979 might be a sweet spot too, as VH were starting to get bigger, first headline tour. etc

Don’t even have to think about it…..

This picture exemplifies VH Live for me ever since first seeing it in Diver Down its been one of my all time favorite pics. The VH Store has high quality prints and eventually Ill stop procrastinating and order myself one and hang it on the wall.

This pic speaks Volumes!!!!

This is the show I’d go back in time to see and set up cameras to record. No idea why anyone didn’t record it already back then they played Summertime Blues and were evidently wasted and sloppy. But that’s allright with me. I’ve never seen an outdoor show.

I like this hypothetical thread topic obviously there’s tons of shows everyone would like to check out……but what the first one that pops into your head is what’s interesting since most people will probably have a different favorite.

That Tangerine Bowl show isn’t really even the best one to pick because it’s a shorter set opening for The Stones….(and I saw them already in ’81 in Vancouver it was my first VH show)…..but nonetheless for whatever reason that’s the one I’d like to see the most and capture on film to watch again.

Now here’s another one that peaked my interest recently…..I was Googling something else and noticed that VH played Hampton Coliseum on Halloween October 31 1982……and the VH Archive Tour Date page states that ACCEPT opened up…….

 photo IMG_20151018_223214.jpg

I’d never noticed that before and being Halloween night you’d think there might be some mention of it somewhere. You know how they performed in different stage clothes at that 1980 Halloween show…..( the VHND has a page with pics last year)…..

Most opening acts for VH were quite often booed…..I’m wondering what the reception to Accept might have been. At the time their album was Restless & Wild…..

There are soooo many shows but assuming all my brothers here at VHT got the same offer I would go back to 1984 and tape the first Van Halen show I attended in Hartford.

My first VH show…7/17/81 at Madison Square Garden. Now, technically I walked out of that show upset that DLR did too much talking but realized later that was what DLR is all about live.

The 70′s had some great shows…I would love the see the Electric Light Orchestra spaceship on stage in 1978…Wings in 1976…Elton John during his height in the 70′s…Queen on the Jazz Tour…incredible stuff back then.

I’d go back to either of my first VH shows in May ’79 or July ’80. I was front row hanging on the barrier directly in front of Ed. I’d shoot HD video of him the same way I did at Rosemont in 2012 and Bristow in 2015. That would be some pretty amazing footage.

As much as I love VH I would have to pick a mid seventies Led Zeppelin show at MSG.

That one was done – “The Song Remains The Same” filmed in 1976 at Madison Square Garden.
