I happen to be at this show, but I was a little kid up in the rafters with his friend and his friend’s dad. I wasn’t ready yet.

I don’t want this show for nostalgia, I want it because they seem to be really blazing it that night. It’s my favorite STIL solo I’ve heard, and Eddie’s big solo is unique to any other I’ve heard. It reaches a point of intensity where my ears finally give up. I love the days when he would go apesh*t on the guitar and not give an F about being tasteful or reserved. When he’s showing off is when he’s my hero.

I just joined and I don’t want to muck up the threads by crying for a single DVD. If anyone can point me to an owner, I’d be obliged.

“Interpretation? I thought I was playing it right!”

Lineage – Unknown, high-gen VHS -> Unknown -> DVD

This is horrible. It really is. If there was a grade below F-, I’d give it that.

But it’s somewhat rare. And if you’re a hard-core VH fan, you might want it.
I mean, what the heck? It’s free, right??

The rumor I’ve heard is that the guy who shot it ran it through 8 or 9 decks, making copies
of copies. Intentionally generating it to the point where it’s completely shot. Whether
or not that’s true, I have no idea. Anyway, I KNOW there’s a better copy out there, because…

MAJOR UPGRADE

2012 BTB Upgrade

** Contrast Clause **
SIGNIFICANT upgrade to http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=540766
*****************

On the one hand, you’re probably going to hate me. On the other hand, the previous upload of this did exactly what I’d hoped; it flushed out the upgrade.

Many thanks to ReaL808 for dropboxing me this, you can now at least tell Dave from Ed. However, remember it’s still a 30+ year old audience-filmed show. There is little to no zoom; the filmer set up the camera and pretty much left it alone. Some minor zooms during Eddie’s solo, but that’s about it. Anyway, this is as good as it’s gonna get. Even if the Master gets out, I don’t think it’s much better than this.

Included this time around are 2 covers made especially for the BTB release.

Notes

· Audience shot show, filmed using a tripod from pretty far back in the auditorium. Not much zooming is used.
· The video is 4:3 720×480 NTSC with an average bit rate of 8500Kbps and
proper chapter points on a dual-layer DVD.
· The audio is Dolby Digital 5.1 channels encoded at 448Kbps.
· This is a 2012 upgrade to everything else out there. While still not great quality, it’s completely
watchable and enjoyable.
· Something special to watch for. During Jamie’s Cryin’, Dave disappears from view on the left side of the
stage. He is gone for some time and then out of nowhere you see him swing across the left side of the
stage on a rope like Tarzan.
· Released March 4, 2012.

And now. I give you, The Mighty Van Halen…!
