Guys, this video, if real, just made my weekend! Sounds incredible and legit to me. It’s from that “fireworks” poster (which I am convinced after seeing the board and listening carefully is NOT EVH). However, I’m almost certain this one is authentic. Never heard it before and I’m at a loss for words… It’s almost like you can hear Ed thinking and crafting as he goes. I hope this one is real cause if it aint I’m gonna be bummed. http://youtu.be/Pcq-VVhHtT8

Thanks for the confirm- I do believe its the real deal. I listened a few more times with headphones and it’s got his unmistakable signature on it. A few odd licks in there I hadn’t hear before, although he does kinda sound juiced ;)

A friend of mine who once worked at Perkins Palace gave me a tape of Roth/Vai/Sheehan/Bissonette playing at Roth’s house…and I swear this was on the flipside of that tape…so I thank you for adding it to my collection…again!

Sounds like Ed’s tone and style of playing..A lot of little things we have heard before..

Sounds like someone trying to play like Ed, but not quite getting it. The tone is there, but the style isn’t.

Yeah, I’ve heard this one before; that is definitely legit, but I would classify this (the 5150 one) as a studio outtake (more polished and sounds edited). The new one sounds like just a jam or warmup, but I’m quite sure it’s still Ed. The phrasing, attack, legato (sp?) and pick harmonics are unique and nobody can duplicate them. Probably some ex roadie or one of his guitar techs are putting these up. Very cool though – I could listen to both all day and not get bored – and I might add, much better than the little 14 year old french chick playing eruption.. :)

I was thinking pretty much the same thing. If I was a little more talented, I could go downstairs, and make a recording like this, and claim it was Ed from ’84.

The recording sounds too clean, and new to be from a cassette tape from ’84. Besides it doesn’t quite feel like Ed. Impossible to know the truth. Only Ed would know if it was him or not.

I’ve heard this before & I say it’s fake.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

yeah I’m in the same boat here…. sounds like someone trying to be EVH and sounds close but not quite there. Anybody can record some EVH licks, make it sound old, then upload and say it’s EVH outtake. But this is just a little off.. but who knows ;-)

This guy is starting to get a little annoying with his posts. He posted a horrible quality version of Dave’s loose cover of “79th and Sunset” and he describes it as “69th and Sunset” and says it’s a ’74 demo which became “Could this Be Magic?”, none of which is remotely true. It was played by Dave on a radio special, I believe with Jim Ladd, in or around 1980. I used to have the LP. And it was never a demo for “CTBM?”. This guy reminds me of the old bootleggers that used to delete or add tracks to cassettes and pass them off as a different show to try to get more stuff in trades. I wonder if he is trolling people or really believes these recordings are what he says they are.

I listened a few times to the “new” 1984 track and it’s got his unmistakable signature early “brown out” sound with the undervolt tubes. The tone, picking style, vibrato, etc.. harmonics are all his. Anyone can duplicate a few of these things individually, but not all together at once… At least not that I’ve heard. If it’s fake then Ed has pretty good double. The Gazzari’s 75 I had not heard before, but it is def ED also. I have the radio interview on one of my old tapes – somewhere, but re-added it to my collection (this version sounds pretty clean).

After the fake Eruption 2 post, I was skeptical at first but if you listen around the 8 min mark onwards (the house of pain lick) you can tell it’s the real deal.

BTW- The Eruption 2 is defiantly NOT ED. Not even close. Been listening to EVH for 30 years. Sounds like George Lynch on a bad day (or even worse, someone trying to imitate Lynch…)

Now this thing shows up???? WTF??
