February 2009:
Is there going to be a CD/DVD from the tour ?

We did film and record 7 shows, but we kind of thought, why give people what they just saw? We have it. Maybe later. We just didn’t feel like the timing was right. Why give them exactly what they just saw? Somewhere in the future I’m sure it’ll surface. Maybe, if and when we decide to put everything we have out. Including things like me playing guitar at the 6th grade talent show. There’s all kinds of cool and funny shit we could put out. Who knows, really, when there are so many other things to do first. Like put out some new tunes.

Here we go again another shoot down…

I am on a two day vacation in Vegas right now. I wish I saw this new rumor last night, because I would’ve been able to shoot it down then instead of a day later. Yet more rumors from Andrew that are COMPLETELY WRONG. You can bank on that. You know I would not steer you wrong, and I never have steered you wrong. And it’s one thing when he reports on things that aren’t in the works. But it’s another thing when he reports that Dave and the VH Brothers haven’t been in contact. I know for a fact that David Lee Roth has met with the VH brothers countless times this year. And besides all the meetings when they get together, they talk on the phone a few times a week, too. I can’t tell you how crazy it is to read this bullshit from Andrew, and all the while he acts like he knows what’s going on! It’s the weirdest thing.

Remember guys, if you were to have believed everything that Andrew has said in the last several years, you would have believed that the first single from the last album was going to come out in late 2010, the last album was to come out in the first half of 2011, Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell was singing background vocals on the entire album (this was my personal favorite!) , Eddie was playing bass on at least some of the album, the false song titles such as “Hurricanes” etc., and that the album artwork was based on a brown M&M and the VH logo. Oh, and he got the fans excited about VH Blu-Rays and Sammy-era remasters that were about to be released.

And now this year, he got the fans excited about the new album has been recorded and is about to be released soon, and that a live DVD is about to come out. And to top it all off, he reports that the VH brothers and Dave haven’t even been dealing with each other at all lately!

All of this is absolute nuts. You all should know he’s been wrong about everything before ADKOT was released, and soon enough you will see that he is wrong on everything he said this year.

I’m not even going to address this on VHND. I’m only doing it here, since he has apparently fooled all of you once again. This is nuts!!

And I want to add one thing. It is not that Andrew was right at the time, but that the band changed all their plans, such as album artwork, song titles, decided against Ed playing bass and Chris Cornel singing, and pushed the single back from 2010 to 2012. The truth is that he was wrong, even at the time. None of the stuff he reported back then was really the plan at the time. It’s not that he would have been right, but that VH changed things.

I’m on a two day vacation right now, so I’ve got to get off my computer and get out of this hotel room. So I probably won’t be able to post anything again today or tonight.

But don’t worry guys. You will know what’s really going on soon enough.

As soon as Andrew said that Dave has not talked with the rest of the band I thought he was talking bullshit. Dave has said on numerous times that he talks with Al everyday. Thanks Jeff for the clarification and thanks Pete for providing the posts here.

I have no idea what is going to happen, but I hope if they decide to do new tunes Dave sings more like he did at the MSG show (5/23/08) than he did in 2012-13. I watched the MSG dvds (NYCBC) for the first time in a while when I got home from work today and I was shocked by how much better Dave sounded than when we last saw him. The show was pretty hot. I’d be happy to get a blu-ray of it if that’s what they decide to do. Of course, I’d be even happier if they opened up the vaults and we got to see Ed playing in 6th grade etc…..

I’m willing to bet that if a DVD is released, there will also be a CD of the show, like RHRN.

Perhaps there will be a few new tunes added to the CD, like KISS Alive II.

I think maybe the talent show thing was Ed playing guitar with Wolfie at Wolfies 6th grade talent show. I know video of this exists because I saw a clip of it somewhere…just don’t remember where
I’d love to get a bluray of ANY of the shows from the last tours, even if it was a butchered compilation of different songs from different shows…I know they were filming in chicago when I saw then in may 2008…

From 2002:
At Wolfie’s school talent show last year, Bertinelli watched misty-eyed as the preteen played drums on Kenny Loggins’ “I’m Alright” with his dad at his side on guitar.

Let’s see what Jeff says to this one…..

Ok, new tweet just now from Andrew.

Ok, for what it’s worth. No new Van Halen album, no live DVD. Looks like it’s a live CD from the archives. Urrgh. This better be right!”

He may have inside sources, but if he does they seem to be full of shit. As with anything in VH land, until the band announce something themselves I take all rumors (well the ones from vhnd are usually on the mark) as lies.

I went back and looked at what Melodicrock was saying in 2011 leading up to ADKOT, and found plenty to be on the mark, or close enough that in hindsight, the info was good. The only thing that stood out to me as way off base was all the track titles he kept coming up with.
