In celebration of one of America’s greatest rock and roll bands, Genesis is excited to announce the official VAN HALEN anthology, by Alex Van Halen. Featuring previously unseen photography and unlimited access to a vast archive of music, equipment and stories, VAN HALEN is an exciting visual odyssey through the band’s legendary career.

Signed, curated and written by Alex Van Halen, this official book chronicles the brothers’ musical journey through childhood and formation of the band, their meteoric rise in 1978 with a landmark debut album, worldwide touring, followed by a string of acclaimed albums and a number one hit ‘Jump’ in 1984.

With unprecedented access to Van Halen’s family archive, this book presents the band’s 1978-1984 years through correspondence, music and equipment, tour memorabilia, album artwork, press cuttings, previously unpublished photographs and much more. Alex Van Halen’s commentary covers the creative process of their legendary albums, Eddie Van Halen’s virtuosic guitar playing, the band’s live sound and the raw energy of their performances that cemented their place in rock history.

Included with each limited edition set is a 7″ vinyl of unreleased/rare material and additional items such as a photographic print, a poster, replica pieces of memorabilia.

If you’ve poked around their web site, it looks like these kinds of books are very limited, and will probably retail for around $400-$500 !
