I was dirt poor throughout most of the ’80s, and buying music took a backseat to providing for my family. So from around 1983 until 1990 or so, I bought very little music. The first (and only) Sammy-era CD I bought was Balance. So I never got a chance to “grow up” with those previous Sammy-era releases. In fact, I literally have never listened to most of them.

Hang on to that feeling… you’re doing the right thing, it’ll only make you mad.

And the funny thing is, Sammy’s worst album has sold more copies than all of your records combined!

Wow, you got me with that zinger. Which is his worst one? I want to know what I’m going up against.

The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!!

As long as he’s fronting some shitty band and not ruining VH, I don’t really care what the red tampon is up to.. I do enjoy ripping on him though.

Seems like the last time I ragged on you for ragging on sammy you got your panties in a wad & was crying like a little school girl who skinned her knee chasing after the big ol bully that stole her sammy hagar parachute pants.

Give it shot… And for the record, I’d never take your hagar parachute pants. Try to accomplish it without name calling. I know you can do it. Can’t we have a little fun and all be friends when the dust settles? I got no beef with you, or anyone here… If we met in ‘real’ life we’d get along just fine.. I’m actually a pretty cool guy, if I do say so myself. We’re just killing time in between tours/albums.

So, which one is his worst? I’m honestly curious as to how the mind of a hagar fan works.

I wouldnt have any idea which Sammy album sold the least number of copies. I am sure I never bought it. I never said I was a Sammy fan, but I am not a Sammy hater either. I am a Van Halen fan who still liked Van Halen when Sammy was in the band.
It’s funny that you can call Sammy names but tell me not to call you names? Teehee. I have no beef with you either, but it gets old seeing the uncalled for and unecessary bashing of Sammy & Sammy era Van Halen. How difficult is it to let those of us who want to read/talk about that era do so without injecting your negativity?

You seem more obesessed with a hatred of Hagar than with a love for Van Halen…..And for the record I am just trying to have fun while making my point…

I think we need to get you two together with a big bottle of whiskey. You drain the whiskey bottle, put on some boxing gloves, and then go at it.

VAiN: This is by far the worst of the van hagar compositions. Front to back cringe-worthy lyrics to really lame songs. I think source of infection is the song i hate the most out of the hagar catalog – and that’s saying a lot.. it really crystallizes the depth and intelligence of the hagar lyric.

When you have to write lyrics to somebody elses music, which is my part time job because I also write my own lyrics and music, but in Van Halen, Montrose and Chickenfoot it’s my job to write lyrics and melody for the songs. When you’re handed a job like that and the lyrics didn’t come by themselves and there wasn’t an inspiration then you have to wait for that inspiration. If the music doesn’t inspire you enough to come up with a title and the meaning of what you want to say then you have to sit around and wait. You can’t make that shit up, I mean you can but then you have stupid lyrics like I use to have in the 80’s (laughs). I’m at a point in my life that I don’t want to sing made up lyric, I want to sing something that means something. It’s getting tough that’s all I’m saying.

I thought the lyrics to “Mine All Mine” were excellent. “Black & Blue” not so much.

The shoop & boop part at the end makes you want to jump out a window.

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?
