Mind you Roth has been back to perform in Edinburgh x3 and Glasgow x3 as a solo artist! Download wouldn’t be a great gig for all to see, too large! I travelled to Vegas, return the favour guys!!!!

Other memories from this show include Eddie Van Halen playing with his back to the audience and no one believing he was actually doing it, and Lee Roth running off the stage mid-song the wrong way, winding up in the lane, having to go round to the front of the venue and not being let back in. A similar story is told about Bon Scott making the same mistake, and only getting in the main door when AC/DC fans in the foyer recognised him.

thats okay, the last time they played in my part of the U.S. with David Lee was 1980. The closest VH w/Roth have come to playing here between 1981 and 2013 was a little over 700 miles away. We’re just fly over country.. Hell if they just played the Sturgis Rally they could pull in over 200,000 people. Van halen with Sammy have played here twice, 1986 and 2004 and kicked out during the Unlawful tour, because of a strip club and a van turning on its side incident.

guitard: I don’t know much about the story, but I think the 1980 Glasgow show at the Apollo was when the ban was started.

According to a conversation with Eddie I had the ban actually comes from Aberdeen and they were escorted to the border. It was 2004 of course so he may have been drunk when he told me 8-O
Believe the dates when I see them. I would prefer a European Tour to two Festival dates but if they play them I think it will be unlikely.

Aren’t they rumored to play that festival every year?

We’ll just wait and see.. If, and it’s a big IF, they book this I believe they will book more shows around it. When do these festivals happen?

Download festival 13-15 June. Best plan is 3 UK dates at minimum O2 London, Birmingham or Manchester and one at Hydro, Glasgow ! Do the arenas not festival circuit !

Thanks… agreed on arenas and not festivals. I hate festival shows.. so many people and short sets. I’m too old for that shit. So June 2014? In VH time that’s about 100 fan years..

Avenged Sevenfold have been announced as the first headliner for Download Festival 2014.

The metallers will play the Friday night of the bash, which will take place at Donington Park between June 13 and 15. Also announced today is Rob Zombie, who will also play on the Friday night.

Download organiser Andy Copping said earlier this year that he would love to secure a reunited Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and the original line-up of Guns N’ Roses as future headliners.

“I’d love to get them (Van Halen), but who knows when?” he told NME. “Maybe one year we can get them to come over and it’ll happen, I live in hope. You can’t rule any bands at that level out: Led Zeppelin, the original line-up of Guns N’ Roses, I’d love to get them, hopefully it’ll happen one day.”

I really doubt VH will do any shows in 2014 until New music is released which I hope they are-will be working on…
