Two things have been the issue for me, one is that I never figured out the Torrent thing, I used to love old-fashioned trading, but it’s easy to get stuff now. The second was that, liek most social media, if you post something there was always a backlash of negative to follow. For example, if I said that I actually liked Van Halen 3, I get crucified. So if it is a hassle, then shut er down. I will miss it, especially now, when cool video clips and pictures show up, but I understand that if it’s taking time, etc, then it might be time to just remember the good old days.

Ha, I was gonna suggest we open a Sam vs. Dave thread to drum up business! Actually, for me, I think the atmosphere is quite pleasant and most opinions are treated respectfully. I used to peek in over at the Links and while their traffic was pretty heavy, it was all a bunch of arguing and name calling. Here, most people manage to stay on topic! Sorry for crucifying you for your earlier opinion about backlash! Haha  Oh, and like everyone else, I enjoy checking in daily. I’d be happy to start new threads when things come to me.

videoman320(308) | I too check the site out almost every day. I have learned a lot here. I learned from members here how to download, what software to use, and have had guys tell me how to fix technical problems. I’ve traded through the years with other members. Had a member author a few shows I filmed and post them on torrent sites for others. So for me it’s far from just a Van Halen trade site for fans. There are a lot of great people on this site. Unlike any other site I have ever been a member of. I hope this site continues no matter what Van Halen does. To me now its more about the fellow members than it is the band. If they do something together with any line up, great to me it will be a bonus. The people who post here are what makes it enjoyable for me.

I love it here and feel that if the site shut down its the end of an era…..the end of friendships…..the memories of trading heyday…….the end of what many of us have been part of for years and years. It would be a shame to end this…..it just cant be. I am on this site all the time. What happens to everyone? What happens when VH resurfaces and this diehard group needs to find each other to discuss and trade???

I know that I am like many have described themselves at this point – frequent lurker/infrequent poster. So is it put up or shut up time? Either we pay or this goes away? I’d rather just have the straight story instead of a weird, veiled threat. Thoughts?

Ory & Wes haven’t been a part of the overall running of VHT in years. With only 1 person basically running the site, the pulse of the place was discussed among 2 members several months ago (not me). So I will put it like this: The person that has been running the site doesn’t want to anymore. They are willing to turn the site over to someone else to operate. This means paying a web host to keep the site going. So unless whoever takes over is willing to foot the bill, the cost to host this site will have to be spread out among all of us. Otherwise, VHTRADING bites the dust. Here’s another question I’d like to put out there: “Do you think VHTRADING has lost its’ value ? ”
