Looking At The Least Talented Members Of Famous Bands
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2016 AT 5 A.M. BY CHRIS LANE

What would Black Sabbath have sounded like with a different singer?

The history of rock music is a strange and thorny place; a scarred landscape littered with the tales of bad bands that made it big, great bands who never got their chance, and plenty of odd characters of varying levels of talent who somehow had their moment of fame. While it’s true that many of the bands who’ve risen to the top are comprised of gifted musicians with talent to spare, but then there are those…exceptions. Popular bands who have plenty of talent on display, but then they have one or two members who seem like they’re not in the same league of musicianship as their bandmates. This is for those dudes; the guys who somehow tagged along on the fame train with their more talented pals.

10. The Beatles – Ringo Starr
9. ACDC – Phil Rudd
8. Metallica – Lars Ulrich

7. Everyone in Van Halen Except Eddie Van Halen
Moving on from uninspiring drummers, we have the band that the Van Halen brothers built. Eddie Van Halen changed rock guitar playing forever and changed the sound of hard rock along with it. He’s routinely in all of those “Best guitar players of all time” lists, and deservedly so. The rest of Van Halen? Pretty much decent bar band level. They could all play adequately, but none of them would be famous if not for EVH. I’ve heard his isolated recorded vocal tracks, and David Lee Roth would probably still be in some crappy bar band, ripping off Black Oak Arkansas’ Jim Dandy Mangrum’s wardrobe choices if Eddie Van Halen hadn’t come along.

6. The Sex Pistols – Sid Vicious
5. KISS – (Special Rules. See Below)
4. Bon Jovi – Alec John Such
3. The Cure – Lol Tolhurst
2. Black Sabbath – Ozzy Osbourne
1. Happy Mondays – Bez

I don’t know.. I think AVH is pretty fucking good. He’s a world-class drummer that can rip your face off.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

The poor folks play for keeps down here…They’re the living dead. Nobody rules these streets at night like Van Halen!!

That’s horse shat, Alex has one of the most unique snare sounds in rock! Also after reading Vanhalen Rising, I really believe that if it was not for Dave, the sisters would still be banging around in the clubs of California. 8-O

That article is ridiculous. As mentioned above, Al is one of the greatest drummers ever and Dave has and will always be regarded as one of the best front men ever…

It clear that the least talented members of VH are no longer in the band… ;) (that’s a joke people)

Same goes for Ozzy too. Sabbath would never of made it without him. They were right about Sid Vicious though… Waste of space that fucker was.

Alex Van Halen

Eddie Van Halen is the superstar of his eponymous group, and for good reason. He’s the lead guitarist for a legendary rock band, and he happens to belong on the Mount Rushmore of electric guitar. It’s easy to forget that Eddie’s brother, Alex, is also a founding member of the band. Nobody notices the drummer, especially when the lead singer is wearing all that spandex.

But Van Halen would not be the rockin’ combo it is without Alex on the drums. He might not be the maestro his brother is, but he’s an excellent drummer and handled the band’s business side in the early days. How many classic-rock staples start with a 30-second drum solo? “Hot for Teacher” does, and it’s extra cool.
