Well, that’s probably why they dropped the actual bass level on that track. Never realized they doubled that with keys. I stand corrected. However, he still made no mention of “One Foot Out the Door”, which was a predominantly keyboard tune, with a blazing guitar solo. I’ll call it a stalemate. ;)

I was talking about me learning something new. I never heard that in So This Is Love either. I thought you were right. I always thought the bass sound on Fair Warning was the absolute best on any of their albums, Hagar stuff included. I wonder why they felt the need to augment that song with a keyboard….. I guess we all learn something new every day (what I should have said). And yes, he did miss One Foot Out The Door…..

Hey everyone,
Sorry, I went MIA. My first post didn’t seem to get much attention, and I didn’t want folks to think I was spamming you all. But I would love to be part of the thread and answer any questions etc.

It’s a fair call-out, and here is the reason why. Originally this was one 2.5-hour video instead of episodes. (I have OFOTD toward the start of Ep3. ) And I hate when docs repeat the same things over and over, so I cut the first mention. Sorry for any confusion. Please remember that VH “experts” vetted my script, including Greg Renoff. Does that mean I don’t get anything wrong? Heck no, I’m sure there is something not right in there. But getting things as accurate as possible was the number one goal. Please continue to call-out stuff you think I messed up.

steecoe: While I enjoyed watching ep 1 & 2 I didn’t learn anything new…

I believe you, but I also find that surprising that you learned nothing new. There are a couple of items, I found in no books, articles, etc., I got directly from a source. And other VH diehard friends said they never knew. Please don’t take this as me saying you are not being truthful; I’m just more surprised.

Now if you say this after watching the next episode, then I may call it out. lol..I have one item that I’m dang near 99.95% no-one in the VH world has heard. And will have Roth fans calling me a-hole. haha

Alan,
I will say it again. This is some great fuckin’ work. I am not saying this in a bad way, but if it was a “perfect” documentary without mistakes, then you would probably be the 1st person in history to do that. Show me any book or movie documentary and I will find an error / misstatement. Not because it was intended, but because it is an error. Again, GREAT FUCKIN JOB!!!

ALSO – Roth playing keyboards on Intruder?!? I though VH moving to keyboard usage was a main component in the split…

I have an audio interview with Roth where he talks about him playing a few keyboard notes during Intruder,

also known as filler music for the Pretty Woman video.

:-D

When you turn on your stereo, does it return the favor?

Dave: “I wrote that. We made [the “Pretty Woman” music video] with no consideration for the music at all. There was no story line that we tried to fit to ‘Pretty Woman,’ we simply made a movie like MGM, Hollywood style. None of this conceptual video stuff. When we finished the movie, it was about three minutes too long for the song, so I said, ‘We won’t cut any of it, we’ll write soundtrack music for the beginning. So we went into the studio and I played the synthesizer and I wrote it – it took about an hour to put that together. It was rerecorded for the album.”

As I said, that was the only thing I saw out of the first 2 episodes that stood out and learning there was a doubling of the bass line on keys on STIL was new to me. I like the fact that you aren’t repeating info over and over, so I’ll reserve any other criticisms/critiques until I watch all of the episodes. As I said before, I really enjoyed the first two episodes and I’m looking forward to the rest. Great job, good sir!!

Thank you so much! I get so much joy hearing from other fans that enjoyed it. No offense at all. I make mistakes on the daily. I have learned no matter how much I try to make sure everything is right, something will not be, and that’s okay. Plus I’m a team of one, so I can only do so much. :)

I read this in a Roth interview, and then Greg Renoff told me he had already verified it via Wolfie. So IMO it’s a fact. :)

I’m pretty sure that’s where I got it from, and again Wolfie via Greg Renoff verified it. Thanks!

All good, brother! After splitting the episodes, I should have reconsidered a few things. IE in EP1, I say something to the effect that I talk about Eddie’s darker side later in the video, and then never say anything. It comes in Ep4 and a little in Ep5.

BTW There will be some things in the next episode I’m sure a lot of people will think might be BS. Feel free to call it out. But just know I did my homework etc, I’m not the Reelz channel. hahaha…With 2.5 hours of material, I’m sure I got something wrong. Thanks!
