guys,

would it be at all possible to do this as an old fashioned tree or do you guys prefer the torrent path once this is complete and ready to roll?

just curious because I still struggle with the torrents on my computer and am stuck in the middle ages. Whatever is easiest though because I will find a way to make it work no matter what we decide to do and will help out any way I can. I am so freakin pumped about this. Damn!!!!

Dropped in YRGM.
Went to drop in Jump, but a good sized section of the beginning of it is missing in the WV clip. (~28 seconds). So thought about patching in the audience audio, when I remembered that the Much Music version had Jump, so looked at that. It’s the full song, so that’s good, but the video is completely different. I lined both songs up to take a look, and there are very few shots that are the same. They are completely separate video edits, but the audio is the same.

So, not sure what I’ll do with Jump yet. I could just punch in the MM version and call it good, but there’s this completely separate video edit that is interesting. I think what I’ll want to do is come up with a 3rd edit, my own, that combines the best of the two we have. Sometimes one is showing a long distance crowd shot, while the other is on Eddie, etc… I could come up with a new edit that concentrates more on the close-up shots. I’ll have to sit through each and see how I feel about them separately before proceeding.

Not to rain on parades or anything, but it’ll probably be several more weeks before this gets completed. I won’t be able to work on it for more than a week coming up soon. It’s been cool to work on it a little every day, and provide the updates. I just want to make sure expectations aren’t too great. There’s a lot of work left to do. Even after I finish patching in the extra tracks, I still have to adjust audio from the different sources to match, and hopefully do something with the colors as well.

Not a huge fan of the era, but this was probably my favorite tour of the Hagar years and I’m getting excited about seeing this finalized project. Eddie’s playing was amazing on this tour. Kudos to you, Mr. Higgins! If I can help in any way, let me know.

Got both versions of JUMP lined up, and did a multi-cam edit on them, and then went back and cleaned up my edits by adjusting them slightly as needed. I think it turned out good. Next up will be to make sure the MM audio matches the PPV audio, and drop it into the timeline and get it seamed up at the head.

I’ve looked ahead and did a comparison of DREAMS from the PPV version to the WV version to see if they are different as well, and they are not. (whew)

Between “One Way to Rock” and “Dreams” the band takes a bow and leaves the stage. In the WV footage, there is 1.5 minutes containing various audience shots. In the PPV footage, there is 1.5 minutes comprised of some audience shots, and some backstage footage. I’m going to keep the PPV version, and ditch the WV version. But the WV version does contain audience footage unseen in the previous versions of the show. I just don’t feel it adds anything to the concert, and if I added it to the mix, it’d just make that encore break longer and more dull.
