ron (11513) | This interview was conducted back on September 9th, 1985—up at 5150 Studios in Studio City—where I had what turned out to be an incredible four-and-a-half hour sit-down with Reverend Al (which I believe lasted over two days). Alex had seen me around the studio often with Eddie Van Halen and knew I was working on his brother’s official biography—so I seized the moment and asked the Van Halen drummer if he was up for a chat in the near future and much to my surprise, he was ready to dive in then and there. Thankfully my cassette player was always in my car, so I grabbed it and headed out to the patio with Alex where we found a couple lounge chairs and settled in for an open, honest, forthcoming, marathon conversation. To date this was probably the lengthiest and most in-depth interview Al had ever done and I was a grateful to be a part of that moment in Van Halen history. The series is a six-parter in effort to break it up for you guys and the schedule of the release is below. Thanks, everyone. — Steve TONECHASERBOOK.com Alex Van Halen : The Lost Interview (9/9/85) ronQuote |
