What Made Peter Frampton Confiscate a Concertgoer’s Camera Phone and Throw It?

Peter Frampton doesn’t need security to enforce his no flash photography or videotaping during shows policy. He is capable of handling it himself, as he proved earlier this week during a concert at the Palladium in Carmel, Indiana.
A couple who reportedly arrived late to the event, missing the pre-show announcement forbidding flash photography and videotaping, upset the legendary rocker as they repeatedly broke the house rules, even after being asked to stop, OnStage Magazine reports.

According to OnStage, Frampton not only gestured for the couple to stop, he also objected to the male in the party taking a selfie as he played in the background. “The male from the front row was even stupid enough to back up to the stage and get the girl to take a ‘selfie’ of him with Peter,” OnStage reports. “Peter quickly turned around and turned his back to the audience and played that way for several moments.” But still, the offenders did not get the message.
As the behavior continued, Frampton eventually smiled and gestured for the male to approach the stage, according to the report. When the concertgoer obliged, Frampton leaned over and asked, “Hey can I see that? Can I see the photos you’ve been taking?” OnStage reports. “The guy hands him his phone and Peter stands up, spins, and flings for the rafters. Yes! The phone went flying to the back of the stage and we all erupted in cheers! With years of experience playing guitar, we just knew he had a great arm.”
Frampton expressed his frustration with the ordeal on Tuesday in a post on his Facebook page. “For those of you from the Carmel, IN (Kah-mull) show who are still scratching your heads as to why I would relieve someone, in the front row of their phone/camera …. Please read the review below,” he said in a post that linked to a Word Press blog review of the concert.
“Many thanks to the eyewitnesses who came forward to explain how annoying, ‘Team Distraction’ actually were. And not just to me but everyone [around] them,” he wrote.
Though we can’t help but honor and respect Frampton’s wishes to not videotape the show, we would love to see a clip of his phone throwing incident. >

Good for Peter.

I know lots of bands don’t mind fans recording the concert on their phones, but it really has gone over the top. It’s gotten so bad that it affects my enjoyment of the concert, sometime all you see is a bunch of tiny screens all the way up to the stage, and people blocking your view so they can film. People are there for their own narcissistic postings on facebook and ‘miss’ the concert even though they’re right there. At the last concert I went to, I looked over the crowd and saw at least half of the people watching the concert through their phone. WTF. It’s like going to a baseball game and watching the whole thing on big screen.

To me Frampton should worry more about performing at his best instead of worrying about people taking pictures. He should of went up to security between songs and asked security to stop them or remove them. Throwing someones cell phone is pretty low class. And lets face it he should really appreciate the fans he has left that are willing to pay their money to see him. Hey if pictures and video taping with a phone bothers you that much play behind a curtain or don’t play live at all. Pretty crappy move especially for someone who hasn’t been relavant for decades.

I think in today’s age if you can’t except that people will take photos or film shows your in the wrong game.It happens every where in life.
VH & other bands are very cool with letting fans film their shows..Its going to happen no matter what.
Bad move I say to throw a fans phone away who paid to come and see you..One day some of these performers might have a low fan base and they would give anything to have people come to their shows and film them..

A follow up to the rest of the story
Before the show there was an announcement that while taking photos or video in the Palladium was strictly forbidden, the “Frampton people” had requested that fans be allowed to take still pictures. No video and no flash. Nice. But there was one fellow in the front row who continued shooting video on his phone despite having been told by those on stage several times to cut it out.

At some point, enough was enough, and Frampton grabbed the phone from the guy’s hand and heaved it at least a hundred and fifty feet behind the stage while never missing a chord.

And the show rolled on to thunderous applause
