VAiN: Sounds like this is going to be a killer DVD! I’d like to offer my design services if artwork is needed…

I don’t ever bother making artwork, so by all means, have at it. I’ll send you a PM with all the info after I get everything figured out.

Hey Guys,
I too know how u feel holding a camera for almost 2 hours. It will drain u out. Get one of these. It’s a neck tripod and it’s awesome. The link is below. I used it to film all my shows. My KISS show I shot from the LA Forum, which I’m sure some of u have was shot using this. I had the neck all the way uo and over everyone’s heads. I was 4th row. Luckily when KISS came on there were no late comers. I had the base of the neck tripod on my thigh and just held the thing while I only turned my body left and right. A sample of that show shot with the neck tripod is below as well. BOLDER STEADY!!

I have one of those neck-pods. I bought it several years ago. I’m not sure if I’ve ever used it at a show before. The problem for me is that it looks like something security would see and immediately think could be used as a weapon. If I were to go that route, I’d be more inclined to just get a piece of light PVC pipe. If you get busted with it, you’re only out a few bucks.

A guy who films in Minnesota a lot swears by the one he made. It’s long enough that he can stick the bottom end inside the front of his pants with the camera right around eye level, hold the shaft with one hand, and film with the other hand. Here’s a DIY of how to make one (although this is shorter than what I’d go for, but you get the idea):

I made the mistake of filming the screen at Jiffy Lube Live at a Santana show five years ago. The picture quality looks like a hi-gen 1980s VHS tape and the brightness of the screen is so much lower than the stage, that you can’t switch back and forth from the screen to the stage without making a significant adjustment to the exposure – which isn’t possible with pretty much all point-and-shoot cams without stopping them.

Hey Randy,
I’ve used the neck tripod for RATT, Y&T ,Ted Nugent, Winery Dogs from practically the front of the stage. No issue from security, except for Y&T, security from the club came up to me and told me the manager of the band told me to take the camera off the neck tripod. There was 30 minutes left in the show and stupid me, instead of taking the camera off and continue to record, I turned the camera off, took it off the tripod, then started recording again. I wasn’t thinking. UGH!!!

EDDIE’S fingers aren’t fingers they are muscle-powered pistons that hammer guitar strings to the fretboard with the force of a rivet gun”.
