Unfortunately, in this case we are the 1%. The average person has no idea that you can torrent or trade for a concert for free. There will always be a market to sell bootlegs. Infact the majority of people probably think they are still against the law to own.

Most people at concerts or who buy music are casual fans who could careless about bootlegs there happy with there crappy cell phone footage and whats on youtube. My question is the ones who do and why they keep spending this kind of money in this economy. They either have money to burn or are just lazy this is 2012.You can’t tell me only 1 percent of people who have actual interest in bootlegs belive what you are saying or are this unaware of what you can find on the pc.

I think it depends on the age group I’m in my mid 30s but I can tell you people in there teens and 20s are aware so I doubt they buy much of anything when comes to music.Van Halens fanbase maybe not as much but there hardcore fanbase is.

I think people who get caught up are people just getting back into bootlegs or people who are not vary aware of whats going on the computer.I use to buy back in the 90s at record stores and when ebay first started and from peoples pages late 90s early 2000s.Then I heard of movies and music and tv shows for free on the internet so I figured maybe you could probably get concert bootlegs for free.So I started searching on the net using google and yahoo and I found out very fast no need to pay anymore and found out how to use and do torrents how to snailmail this was quite a few years ago.

Plus I would think (and just my opinion) there are probably a lot people who think the particular show they saw holds special meaning (took their kid to their first VH show, or even their kid’s first show period, or it reminds them of the 1 time they saw VH back in high school, etc) who have no interest in collecting bootlegs or putting that much effort into looking for it. These are the people that just go to eBay or where ever and search for their show they attended and buy it without even thinking.
