The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has announced the seven recipients of the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. Buddy Guy, Led Zeppelin, David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman and ballerina Natalia Makarova will be honored by the Kennedy Center. Though Led Zeppelin will receive honors as a band, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant will each receive Kennedy Center Honors.

“Buddy Guy is a titan of the blues and has been a tremendous influence on virtually everyone who has picked up an electric guitar in the last half century,” said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein in a press release. “David Letterman is one of the most influential personalities in the history of television, entertaining an entire generation of late-night viewers with his unconventional wit and charm . . . and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant transformed the sound of rock & roll with their lyricism and innovative song structures, infusing blues into the sound of rock & roll and laying the foundation for countless rock bands.”

The Kennedy Center Honors will be presented on December 1st, with the Honors Gala on December 2nd. The gala will air December 26th on CBS.

On December 10, 2007, Led Zeppelin took the stage at to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band’s signature blues-infused rock ’n’ roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalog including landmark tracks “Whole Lotta Love,” “Rock And Roll,” “Kashmir,” and “Stairway To Heaven.”

Although 20 million people applied for tickets, the band’s first headline show in 27 years was seen only by the 18,000 ticket holders who were fortunate enough to have secured seats through the worldwide lottery.

The film of Celebration Day will see a worldwide theatrical release by Omniverse Vision on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories on October 17. The theatrical screenings will follow premieres in London, Los Angeles, New York, and other major cities. Tickets for the public screenings will be available on September 13 via ledzeppelin.com.

Celebration Day will then be available in multiple video and audio formats on November 19 from Swan Song/Atlantic Records. Specific product details will be announced soon.

Led Zeppelin has also been selected as one of the recipients of the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors. The band is set to receive the Honors at the annual gala on December 2 in Washington, DC.

I see it’s going to be the modern day “let’s change the camera angle every half second while zooming in and out at the speed of light” style of video mixing.

I can’t watch these types of video. I’m afraid I’ll be skipping this one when it becomes available.

Went to the movie theater last night to see the Celebration 02 arena show . WOW! I thought they sounded really good on the bootleg dvd’s that came out after the show but seeing it professionally done on a big screen in a theater was fantastic. It really showed just how great they were that night. Jason Bonham did his father proud on drums. Through the years I sort of forgot just how good John Paul Jones really is. He was really good. Plant sounded the best he has sounded in years. As for Jimmy Page well as always he was Jimmy Page. Can’t wait for it to come out in the stores next month so I can enjoy it at even a louder volume than last night.

200 million albums sold. 30 world tours. 4 Grammy awards. The numbers speak for themselves: Led Zeppelin is rock royalty. And AXS TV is so excited to be hosting the PREMIERE of their legendary reunion concert at London’s O2 Arena, this Sunday at 8 ET|5 PT, that we’re playing it for 5 NIGHTS STRAIGHT, plus giving away our most prized Zeppelin possessions to fellow fans. This is a television event you can’t miss!

Hell Yeah me too, Kashmir was/is epic and worth buying the blu-ray alone just for that one song, not to mention all the other great tunes
