PT5150: No names have been let out yet as guests. May be it was a slip or publicity stunt.

Kinda like that Grammy gig epic fail from 2011.

videoman320: Eddie will control the interview.

I don’t know. Ed’s never seemed like he’s comfortable doing interviews . . . maybe that’s because for so many years he was high or drunk when he was doing them in the past. Having said that, my bet is that he won’t have to control anything. Someone (probably Janie) will give Trunk very clear instructions on what he can and can’t ask, and it will be like batting practice for Ed.

Wouldn’t it be something if Ed did go on and blew everyone away by taking on the tough questions? He just might, Ed seems very comfortable right now , maybe more than at any other time in his career. And lets face it it is his band, he calls all the shots. I for one would love for him to go on there be upfront about the past and tell us what is down the road for the band. I’m sure Trunk would like that too because it would be the biggest buzz his show could ever get.

Here’s what Trunk said to me on Twitter…

@EddieTrunk: “@peterou812: @EddieTrunk When will you announce some TMS 2014 guests??” When they are booked.

well, if Ed will be on TMS, I’m sure he’ll be able to manage it ( before going on stage). I’m sure, no ” bad” questions will come from Florentine.

I think it would be cool to see Ed on TMS, whether you like Eddie Trunk or not where else on TV can you watch a Hard Rock/Metal format show.

As far as Eddie answering the tough questions, I doubt there would be too many of them. There really is a lot more to focus on now than the firing of Michael Anthony and the departure of Sammy Hagar. We all know the answer Ed will give and so does Trunk. I think he would ask questions like What’s it like playing on stage with your son? What is it like being back with Dave? Do you and Dave get along? How does the writing process occur? When is the new CD coming out?
The one question I would rather hear over the usual “Why did it fall apart with Sammy” is Do you see yourself ever being friends and or recording with Sammy in the future?

On the other hand they may have him as a guest guitarist but I think quite honestly in the world of Hard Rock he is to big for that role on the show. It would be like asking Jimmy Page to do it at this point.

@EddieTrunk: “@vanlynch: @EddieTrunk is EVH coming to TMS??” Not unless you can talk him into it. He passed on Letterman, think he’s doing TMS? Haha

@EddieTrunk: “@Gary_S_Morris: @EddieTrunk Ever thought of asking Eddie Van Halen to guest on TMS?” You are very funny….

I’d be interested in questions like that as well… I want to know more about the future and the process… I’m tired of break-up stories, that shit is over… let’s talk about what’s coming up.

Resident dickhead. I will hurt your delicate feelings.

If you don’t ask, you don’t get. It’s not like EVH is gonna call up Trunk and ask to be on the show…

Not gonna happen. TMS would have been hyping the hell out of it if it happened.

Dutchie: I dont know what the big fascination is with Ed talking about Mike or Sammy??? They dont work together anymore… Who cares why????

I definitely dont want to see Eddie turn into what Sammy has become these days. Ed has taken the high road and kept it all in house as it should be. Maybe if he ever releases a book and needs the extra publicity he may say something….

there was certainly a time when I would have loved to hear Ed talk a little about Mike and Sam and if he ever plans to play anymore Sam era tunes but honestly at this point I just dont care anymore. I am happy to see ed happy and playing and looking good. I would love to hear him talk more about his old kramer guitars, Steinbergers etc kinda like what he did in the GA mag a month back. But the Sam and Mike stuff at this point is good to see on the boots but I just dont care anymore at this point. Glad Edward is still jamming and playing with Dave these days.

I’m in the camp that believes Mike will perform with the band again someday. Maybe only a one-off … maybe a tour. And I think the impetus for it will come from Wolf. If Wolf tells his dad he thinks it would be a good idea – I think Ed will listen to him (but not to anyone else … except maybe Al … but I don’t think Al would ever suggest it).

So based on that thinking … as crazy as it might sound … I would like to hear Ed’s response to, “Do you ever foresee a day when Mike might perform with you again?” I already know Ed’s going to say, “Why? We got a bass player.” I would hope the interviewer would followup that up and ask, “But what if Wolf suggested it to you … as a one time thing … just for old time’s sake?”
