oryo: That no hitter against them was strange. C’mon, 6 pitchers combine for no hitter! 6 pitchers!!!!!

The major thing is how you can manage with injuries!

A much better result last night. I am still amazed they are playing as well as they are.

All this without Kemp, Ellis, Kershaw in his cy young form & a everyday 3rd baseman. I have heard or watched almost every single Dodgers game this season and several times from different interviews I’ve heard players say they believe in the team and know somebody will pick them up if the team is down.

I’ve been a Dodgers fan since I’ve been knee high to a grasshopper and bleed Dodgers blue like Lasorda.. I believe with the new ownership it changed the way the players feel about the team and most of all how us Dodgers fan feel about the team.

Dodgers fans are loyal and is why they always hit the 3 million in attendance each season EXCEPT last 2 seasons when McCourt owned the team… Many of us wouldn’t bother going to a game except opening day because of what the parking lot attendant (McCourt) was doing to the team and the stadium. Each year for the past 15 years we had a group of 80-90 people (LA County workers + friends) do a 7 game package that included Opening Day and if we were lucky to get a Yankee or Bobble head night because the Dodgers were very strict and forced us to do a 7 game plan for our group.. At least they would give us 5 of those games at 1/2 price except opening day and either Yankee or lone Bobble head. You figured with that many people they would roll out the red carpet for us and work with us… NOT WITH McCourt! It was so bad the past 2 seasons that our group went from 80+ to 25-30 and now the Dodgers attendance dropped the past 2 seasons the Dodgers would tell us to commit to 2 games only or if we wanted to do more games they would let us pick any game we wanted including any bobble head night or if wanted we can pick all or some of those nights. They were hurting in attendance because of McCourt!

Now with new ownership and the Dodgers are winning LA feels like they have what we had growing up… An ownership that cares about the fans (We hope its too early to tell!) and a winning team. When the O’Malley’s owned the team they knew baseball and knew what was best for the team and the fans.. Once it was sold to Murdock and FOX the team went away from that and went with doing whatever to make $$$$ and trying to make the stadium the cash cow.

Like I said I bleed Dodgers blue and the Dodgers fan are very loyal and will follow the team no matter how bad of a season they are having.. No jumping off of band wagons here.. It’s Los Angeles Dodgers not like the other team across the 5 FWY of California, Anaheim or Los Angeles Angels of Southern California in the Western Hemisphere.

Mike,
If you ever come to LA let me know and I will gladly take you to a Dodgers game! This might be Vin Scully (The greatest announcer!) final season!

I would say the Dodgers are somehow winning without Kemp and a decent 1b, ss, and 3b.

I remember watching Game 1 of the 1988 World Series when I was a kid back in Australia and have been a Dodger fan ever since. Due to the wonderful thing known as MLB.TV I watch every single Dodgers game here in the UK. I have only ever seen 1 Dodgers game live. It was in 2007 at Dodger’s Stadium; LA won and it was a great day. It was, however, not as great as seeing VH in Charlotte a week or so later!

That’s one of the most famous games in Dodger history – where Kirk Gibson hit the walk-off homer.

Side Note: I have been working on a project of finding the families of WWII soldiers who wrote letters to the principle of the elementary school I attended. The principal of the school during WWII corresponded with several former students while they were serving in the military during WWII and he saved the letters he received. When he passed away in the ’70s, his daughter took possession of them. The daughter is now in her 70s, and it’s her wish that these letters be returned to the soldier (if he is still alive) or to the relatives of the soldier.

I offered to help find the families, and so far we’ve found 14 of the 40 or so letter writers’ families.

One of the letter writers was Bob Gibson. After some research, I got the feeling this might be Kirk Gibson’s father. I passed that information to the lady with the letters, she contacted Kirk’s secretary at Dodger Stadium, and sure enough, this Bob Gibson was Kirk’s father. Kirk’s secretary said Kirk would be honored to receive the letters.
