Do any recordings from the Japan run or the last shows in Hawaii exist? Thank you.

The Budokan show from 11/01/95 is partly available on this boot:

As far as I know recordings also do exist from Tokyo 11/02/95 (complete) and from Honolulu 11/05/95 (incomplete). The show from Honolulu is said to include a short teaser of Sammy playing High Hopes. Maybe anyone here can confirm this?

Not solid confirmation by any means, but at least it backs up the story.

yes I have the Honolulu show on audio….. Sam plays High Hopes and Ed rips into Unchained main riff during his solo. I also have the complete Japan November shows on audio as well. Cant remember which one but at the start of ATBL Ed’s guitar has problems and they just do this Bass and drums riff for a minute until Eds guitar comes back on line. Really cool and they sound amazing too.

Thanks for the information, Rob. Not sure if anyone trades anymore but I would be interested in setting something up for the Honolulu show.

sure I would be into that. I am not much for the torrent thing as I just don’t understand it all that much so I’m kinda old school. But yes we could hook up with a trade.

So I did some digging & found my DAT transfers of 11/2/95 Tokyo & 10/30/95 Osaka. I had forgotten all about this ‘unreleased’ tune, but it seems familiar – does anyone know if it has ever come out on a Sammy album in the last 22 years?

I haven’t listened yet to this version here but I’d say this is the same Jimmy Reed cover Sammy played previously at the 1992′s Bridge Benefit in Mountainview, CA and the 1994 House of Blues Radio program, both versions can be found here: http://www.vhboots.com/unreleased.html. On the same boot Sam & Mike perform another Jimmy Reed tune (“You Don’t Have To Go”) for the Rockline radio broadcast on February 27, 1995.

Looks like a Sammy-ized version of this tune:

Jimmy Reed – You Don’t Have To Go Lyrics
Whoa, baby
You don’t have ta go

Whoa, baby
You don’t have ta go

I’m gonna pack up darlin’
Down the road I go

Well now, I give you all my money
Then ya go downtown,
an’ you get back in the evenin’
Told me, walked down town

Whoa baby, you don’t have ta go
I’m gonna pack up darlin’
Down the road I go

Whoa baby, honey what’s wrong which’ you?
Whoa baby, honey what’s wrong which’ you?
Well you don’t treat me darlin’, like you used to do

…Which is why I mentioned Johnny Rivers. The song has been re-done numerous times by numerous artists. The Johnny Rivers version seemed to match up pretty well.

Oh Baby, you don’t have to go
Oh Baby, you don’t have to go
I’m goin’ to pack my rags Baby
And down the road I’ll go

Well you get up in the morning
And you go downtown
You come back in the evening
When the sun goes down
Oh Baby, tell me what’s wrong with you?
You know you don’t treat me darling
Like you used to do
