That’s just awful. Very generic and not rocking at all.. I didn’t think it was possible, but that’s gayer than Gary.

ron: It’s the right time (Mitch Malloy w Van Halen) It’s the right time (Mitch Malloy w Van Halen) It’s 1995 and I’m invited, via a phone call from Eddie, to “hang out” with the band. After an amazing time in L.A., which included Ed saying, “congratulations you’re in the band”, I’m leaving and he hands me a tape of an instrumental of the band and says, “turn this into a song”. Well, I did write that song, but never shared it with anyone out of respect for the band. But, 20 long years later, I decided that with the challenging times the world is having “It’s the Right Time” to share that uplifting song. Fans have wondered what I would sound like with Van Halen, now you will know. I hope you dig it. ROCK!

Mitch sounds like Jimi Jamison of Survivor to me. His voice and lyrics might have been able to keep VH afloat as a pop band in the post-Sammy era, but the neutering of VH would have been complete. Gary Cherone looked and sounded out of place; Mitch Malloy sounds like a nicer version of Sammy with absolutely no bluesiness in his his voice at all. Not my cup of tea, but probably better than Cherone….

On the one hand, I’m excited to hear an unreleased Van Halen track, especially an alternate version. I give Mitch credit for having the balls to put it out there. But on the other hand, yeah, it was pretty underwhelming. Can’t lay all the blame on Mitch though. That’s what Ed handed him. Gary’s version wasn’t that much better.

I actually kind of liked Mitch when he sang Panama but really did not dig that track at all. Horrible…..

Reminded me of a every generic top 40 “rock band” of the 80′s……………………He had no power, and I’m sorry but Panama was as Karaoke as you can get. Simon Cowell would have had a heyday……….

agreed but I still liked it better than Gary “Screaming” through the whole thing. At least Mitch’s voice was a little more melodic in Panama. But agreed 100% if he had stayed he would have been a short timer too thats for sure.

I liked the intro. The rest was very blah.

VH dodged a huge bullet by not hiring MM. Its not that he has a bad voice or anything but its not right for VH that’s for damn sure.

They would of been better off hiring Kyle Troy than Mitch Malloy… ;)

So VH must have given him permission to do what he wants with the song….Seems odd with how tight VH are with various things…

Interesting to hear the song without the keyboards.

He does a decent job imitating Sammy.
