Hello- I’m curious why ???

The recent VH Dave podcast interview Andrew Bennett made a comment that made good clear sense to me….He stated that if EVH ( or VH ) took issue with anything from anyone anywhere….that they’d hear about it right away….

…and also he stated he emailed them before posting his Vault site….and there was no response at all whatsoever….

So that right there clears any ambiguity from my perspective.

I think it’s great he put up that ” It’s About Time ” video…( evidently it was already there on his site all along???)….it’s a cool video nice to see something new different & unexpected.

The actual $500 price for basically an hour or so of footage & a few pics is not a fair price IMO. I’m thinking $150 or so might be more appropriate all things considered. ( But I sort of under stand the reasoning somewhat….attempting to at least garnish a certain amount due to the exclusive rarity and fact that if he sold and shipped them out right away it’s inevitable it’d end up being shared right away on the net….thus less folks would buy it…then he’d end up with much less return than what he deems his work is worth.

Obviously it goes without saying…the footage he has is pretty much exactly what numerous EVH fanatics & many VH fans like me would love to see. It’s not as though the band actually put much out themselves.

I kinda felt this way at first, but, working in video production myself and realizing he shot all of this footage himself and then taking into account the reviewing, producing, editing audio and video together, whittling down hundreds of hours into just an hour or so is a lot of effort and work, plus the exclusivity of the footage, I think it’s more than fair. If Gene can sell his vaults for $2k+, $500 for something this unique and rare isn’t too outlandish, IMO.

Oh I agree he should definitely enjoy appropriate renumeration for his work….and I acknowledge the ” rarity ” factor & limited independant release without wide distribution…..

But- I’m just saying $500 is not a price I’ll pay….

And- Suggesting instead selling 2000 copies @ $150 or whatever would be more feasable….

Basically I cant afford it haha….but even if I could…. Still wouldn’t pay $500…. Unless DLR was included….then probably have to have it….but would pool $ with a few other VH fans to get it….

The difference is with Gene’s vault … he personally delivers the vault … you are really paying for the meet and greet as much as the actually product.

It’s because it is 100% un-authorized by the band. Anyone that associates with this in the media is hanging themselves. (podcasts, radio stations, media outlets etc)
