Halenberg: Yeah I honestly don’t think they were there on all the shows maybe just a few then they changed the setup maybe. I sure don’t remember seeing them when I saw them and haven’t noticed them being there in any other pics that I can think of.

Yeah ThisMusicSux was right they’re hockey players Dan Carrillo from the Philadelphia Flyers and Riley Cote.

The speakers were there when I went to see them in Hartford in March 1984. That was the coolest stage ever.

Dutchie: That’s a great picture… That’s his new desk so I guess its very recent.

Interesting to see the Ripley hanging on the wall. I wondering if he is using it for something???

Seeing that the pic was posted in December of 2011, he was probably using it on “Blood and Fire”.

I don’t think that pic is from December 2011. If you look at pics from the Cafe Wha show 1 month later Ed’s hair is long and dark brown. Granted it could be dyed in a few hours but it’s not going to grow 6 inches in a month. Given the quote with the pic “the man the myth the legend eddie van halen and my boy carbomb 2 summers ago” I would pin it around Summer 2010.

Reading your quote again Voo, I see your not saying the pic was from December 2011 rather it was posted December 2011.

The hockey jersey was signed in 2007 (probably Toronto according to the story).

The sneakers shot was posted in April 2010 and said the sneakers were sent to him.

The studio shot was posted in December 2011 and states that it was from two summers ago, which would put it in 2010.

Wow… That is surprising. Ed looks like he does now which is why I thought it was so recent. I know after the last tour, he was updating/revamping the studio and I just figured that thats the new board. I remember now that he got rid of his old board a few years ago (there are photos of it leaving the studio). Still an awesome photo.

The Roanoke pics are great. I was at the show. Brings back some good memories. Going to have to put on the boot from the show and relive.

Funny thing about the ’78 show in Bay City. I remember meeting up with a friend in the fall of ’78 that I had been close friends with until 1975 when my family moved away from the town we lived in. We were talking about concerts and he said he had recently seen Black Sabbath / Van Halen in Bay City, and this new band Van Halen blew Black Sabbath off the stage.

So I just read the article posted above and it says the ’78 show in Bay City was with Bob Seger. All these years I have thought the show my friend saw was with Black Sabbath.

So I check the touring history and I see they played Bay City twice in the summer of 1978, exactly one month apart (1978-07-19 and 1978-08-19). The first show was with Bob Seger and the second one was with Black Sabbath.

Crazy. A friend of mine is a back up singer in Bob Segar’s band. Not sure how long she’s been singing with him. I’ll have to ask and see if she was in the band then and if she has any stories.
