Notes: Recorded from lower pavilion section C row X. I moved after a few songs but stayed in the same row and ended up straight in line with the PA stack on Eddie’s side. Of the four shows I’ve seen on this tour, I think this was the best because Dave sounded quite a bit better, but that’s just my opinion for what little that’s worth. The brief tease of “Jamie’s Cryin’” during “Dance the Night Away” was nice, and I’d love to see them jam that out a bit longer. This tour is so much fun. Go see it, but don’t be a jackass. The guy next to you just might be taping. Enjoy!

Why does your link bounce through a p i . v i g l i n k . c o m
?

Direct link: http://www.filefactory.com/file/6veyxhx2yu4d/n/VanHal.2015-09-02.Noblesville.FLAC.by.TUBE.zip

…after bouncing you through what looks like a marketing site: http://www.viglink.com/about/

I dunno what to tell you Ron. All I did was copy the file factory link I found on guitars101 by right clicking on it and selecting “copy link location” Then I created the post here by pushing the “link” button in the toolbar above and pasted the copied link. I named the link as you see it “Van Halen – 2015-09-02 – Noblesville, IN (AUD/FLAC)” and I hit “submit”.

I do know that I’m not being sent to a marketing site – when I click the link above that I posted – it takes me directly to file factory.

It looks like guitars101 adds this redirect thru viglink to every off-site link. viglink (in this case) is a click-tracking service. When you click links on guitars101, your browser first goes to viglink where they (viglink) track what you clicked on, and where you are coming from and then sends you on. The site (guitars101) probably gets a small commission from every click sent through viglink.

The actual URL you posted is below. As you can see, it’s not a direct link to filefactory. I’ve removed the http part and put in a couple of spaces so that it’s not made clickable by the forum software here. It’s probably not that big of a deal, just something that looks weird.

api . viglink . com/api/click?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_14412813472019&key=039b3bbc691ff55213f2364da94a4d7f&libId=ie45kqk001000blg000DActtvcqcd&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.guitars101.com%2Fforums%2Ff145%2Fvan-halen-2015-09-02-noblesville-in-aud-flac-205485.html&v=1&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.filefactory.com%2Ffile%2F6veyxhx2yu4d%2Fn%2FVanHal.2015-09-02.Noblesville.FLAC.by.TUBE.zip&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.guitars101.com%2Fforums%2Ff145%2F&title=Van%20Halen%20-%202015-09-02%20-%20Noblesville%2C%20IN%20(AUD%2FFLAC)%20-%20Guitars101%20-%20Guitar%20Forums&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.filefactory.com%2Ffile%2F6vey…AC.by.TUBE.zip

It’s a split second redirect. If you have a slower PC or internet connection, it does hang for a brief moment as it redirects.

at home I’d probably see the redirect then as it happens as my home connection is brutally slow. I’m at work right now, it’s seemless so I didn’t catch on that anything was happening. For me – it just appears that I go directly to the link. Sorry guys. Don’t really have the ability to upload from home myself, so i try to give back when the opportunity presents itself. Saw the FF link on guitars101 and just wanted to share and give back as best I could for all the kindness you’ve all shown me. Last time I posted, the link wasn’t clickable, evidently this time I posted a link worked but that tracks clicks? I meant no offense, now that I know this is even a possibility I’ll be more mindful when posting in the future.

It’s not a big deal, really. You just want to be careful if you post and there is a redirect that is malicious. It’s all good. :)

We had forth row center for this show…easily the best of the three we’ve seen on this tour so far. Thanks for the link!
