Notes: The last show with Roth on the first go around with Van Halen as the band plays the Monsters of Rock festival with AC/DC – which topped the bill – and others. This is really good show and the crowd is into it….altho I do remember seeing some video of the gig where Roth was dodging missiles from the audience…maybe just part of the 1980s festival gigs!

_______

As mentioned by jroundy on dime, there’s another version of this show. But that one posted one dime seems better quality according to the comments.

Anybody else get this error? I haven’t logged onto dime in a while but I can’t imagine why I’d be banned?? Anyone know how I can get un-banned?

Tried that, got the same message with any dime page I try to load. Rats. I did a search for the problem and found the mods e-mail address. I asked them to be reinstated. Maybe I was just part of a larger subnet ban.

Thanks for helping a bro out tho, much appreciated!

ed5150, thank you very much for the kind offer, but I did solve it. Downloading it as we speak. Thanks for the heads up on this show!

While I was waiting for dime, I found the show somewhere else. Might be another source as I haven’t compared them yet. It’s nice to have this show for it’s historical importance……..so far (hope springs eternal) :-D

Didn’t listen this upgraded version yet, but that was indeed a special show. Dave makes lots of references about this being the last show of the 84 tour, jokes and speaks with the crowd more than usual. During Happy Trails, he mocks Eddie’s singing abilities :)
Eddie’s solo is special too, as he plays the “Judgement Day” tapping part (where he used the plexiglass tray table), whereas he never played it in any other European show (I though he didn’t even bring the plexi system).

LDB Vintage Series #020

Hi there! After closing both my Master and Special series I took a break from seeding, enjoying life and most of all
preparing for a new series! This is not going to be as frequent as my previous ones, I’ll be seeding shows from time
to time so don’t expect massive volumes here.

Why a “vintage” series? Because music in the 70′s and 80′s was really something…so different, so special with “that” kind
of sound which you don’t find anymore. That was the era of real music without the internet, of long tours and enjoyable live
shows spanning from metal to new wave, progressive, jazz, fusion, pop. So many bands were born and disappeared during those
two decades.

I am then celebrating the 70′s and the 80′s and their unmistakeable sound in this LDB Vintage Series. You will find many bands
I have never seeded in the past but that I still enjoy listening to. Most of these come from low generation tapes that were traded
around that period, many radio broadcasts and overall lots of surprises.

Hope you will enjoy this new series!

Eddie Van Halen – Guitar, keyboards, backing vocals
Alex Van Halen – Drums
Michael Anthony – Bass guitar, backing vocals
David Lee Roth – Lead vocals, acoustic guitar

Another guitar hero from the 80′s, Eddie Van Haven had its blast during 1984, when the band released the album under the same
name and he recorded “Beat It” for Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. Not forgetting the hit single “Jump” who was #1 in the
charts. But the band was a lot more than that, having recorded a series of fine albums in the 70′s. This was the final stop of
a very very long tour, just prior to the band having a stop and David Lee Roth abandoning ship.

Surprisingly, I had this tape from RLR collection sourced directly from the master. It sounds fine to me, although I had to work
a bit to adjust one channel who had some gaps in sound and re-balance the whole thing as once again the tape was a bit deterioreted.

Overall, it captures the mood and the wildness of those show of the 80′s, and the setlist features some tracks that would be performed
live for the last time.

Enjoy!
