There’s an auction out now with quite a few items from the Mark Stone estate, but I think this one is of the most interest to this group:

Van Halen 1972 Mammoth Extremely Rare Early Live Tracks CD-R With COA

Item Details: This incredibly rare live audio archive captures the pre-Van Halen era of the band performing under their original name, Mammoth. Sourced directly from the personal collection of original bassist Mark Stone, this single CD-R features an eight-song set recorded during a 1972 performance at The Gas Co. The disc contains raw, historic WMA audio files tracking powerful early performances of covers and originals, including “Funk #49,” “Mailman,” “Toad,” “Cover Tune,” “Original,” “War Pigs,” “Milk & Honey,” and “Grand Funk.” This lot offers an unparalleled glimpse into the foundational days of one of rock’s greatest acts. Immediate digital transfer to secondary storage is highly recommended to ensure the long-term preservation of these rare digital files.

Provenance / Authenticity: This lot originates directly from the personal collection of Mark Stone, a multi-talented artist who was the original bass player and backing vocalist for Mammoth and Van Halen from 1972 to 1974 and an accomplished luthier. As a foundational figure in the band’s legendary early history, Stone performed on their seminal studio demos and extended his creative contributions by designing the iconic original band logo utilized by Mammoth and early Van Halen. Offered directly from his estate, these historic items will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by an authorized representative of the Stone estate.
