It may have been a stupid statement and I by no means will defend VHLinks or its Administrator, I also will not defend or attack Obama … BUT … technically I guess it IS his economy. If you are blaming the economy and the economy is the President’s economy … you could theoretically blame the President. A stretch maybe but whatever. I could really careless either way. | PT5150 (6281) | Everyone Read…Where We Stand! ——————————————————————————– Hi guys, So about 3 weeks ago I told you all we were going to close the web site because of the amount of money the server costs each month, and it’s just not something after 14 years I can foot the bill for on my own like I once could. My decision was to close the site because I wasn’t comfortable with any other scenario or situation. The moderators had a big discussion with me, and really felt we should keep the site going, and that it meant a lot to a lot of people, which of course I knew. But for me it was easier to just walk away from it, the donation thing wasn’t something I was really interested in…I’m not going to go into all the reasons, I already have said it over the past several weeks anyway. I have to say the outpouring of support has been amazing. From longtime users of this site, to Jeff and the people at the VHND, and some really cool comments that I got from some of the guys at the Roth Army. So that was nice and I REALLY appreciated them all. With that said, we did the donation thing, and I’m happy to say yes we got over $4,800 in donations and a little over 100 donators. Pretty amazing as that means most people gave minimally $50…and A LOT of people gave more than that. So yes we raised enough money to keep the site going another year for sure, and a good amount towards the following year. Does that mean we’re in the clear? No…I’m sure we’ll have to try this again next year, maybe something will change and we won’t have to. I just don’t know. But I want to thank each and every person who donated their hard-earned money to keep us going, and to the moderators who drove this thing the whole time. It would haven’t been done with out them. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! So I am going to keep the site open. I am going to change up some of the donor plans so that those that gave more will get different stuff on the site, so it will be tiered thing. I’ll leave the option for people to donate throghout the year to see if we can get closer and not need as much next year. I may have a small $10 option too. I just don’t know yet. But that’s no biggy to set up. I do know that I am going to upgrade the board to the new version, I’ve already started to work on it. It will look a little different, but I am a little concerned this version is so old and if we’re continuing on I’d like it to be on the platform that is being watched for bugs and issues…not an old one that isn’t developed any further. So stay tuned for that, probably happen in the next few weeks if I can get it set up correctly. So that’s pretty much it. We’re sticking around at least for the next year, I’m sure longer judging by the incredible support we got this year. It’s pretty amazing to be able to pay the server bill in one shot and just be done with it and have money left to put towards next year! And thanks to all of you, we’ll live to fight another day.
