ekru(278) | voodoo: I think anything that gets Van Halen on stage in front of an audience anywhere is a great move. If the promoters think having them will generate interest/revenue, more power to them. Why knock them for playing?
I see your point, voodoo. Just grouchy when I saw such a substandard festival featuring our heroes. Spoiled by much better concerts lately + upcoming, here in Pacific NW. Plus, I like to travel south for good ones when I can … won’t be makin this one.  I know =vH= will be awesome, of course.

PASO ROBLES, Calif. -The California Mid State Fair is little more than a month away and organizers say this year will be bigger and better than ever.From July 17-28, the Paso Robles Event Center will be filled with carnival rides, food vendors, free musical entertainment and some legends will hit the main stage.Van Halen, Tim Mcgraw, Rascal Flatts and John Mayer are just a few of the headliners this year.
Officials say ticket sales are doing great but all shows still have seats available.
“We have tickets available for all of our nights. Van Halen, people are saying ‘oh my gosh it’s already sold out,’ — no it’s not sold out, we have great seats available so get online call the box office,” said Mid State Fair CEO Vivian Robertson.
Last year more than 400,000 people passed through the gates at the fair and this year organizers hope to surpass that number.

cabojohnny5150(46) | I’m going. I live 1hr from Paso (near Pismo Beach) I got tix. I will post some pix & set list if nobody else does. I’m so excited. I haven’t seen VH in concert since 2007 in Fresno. I think EVH knows someone in Paso to get him to play the fair. VH played here back in 1998 with Gary Cherone. I saw that show too. For the fiat to get Mega Stars like VH I figure someone must know Eddie and he is doing them a favor.

Gilligan(1518) | I am hopeful that VH is really just “testing the waters” to see if they can/like being a successful festival band. Paso is close to home and a comfortable trial gig for that purpose. Wisconsin on the other hand I can’t explain but by all accounts they knocked it out of the park.

cabojohnny5150(46) | Right Now, Van Halen is rehearsing. It’s cool u can stab right outside the concert arena and hear it perfect. Running With The Devil is being rehearsed. There have been a lot of Drum Solo’s and guitar noodling. Dave just says ‘is it warm enough out here’
