New EVH gear on the way..

Dutchie: Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Its great for the younger players who are just starting playing and have limited funds.

It’s a smart move IMO.

It’s a smart move in the cash-grab sense, I’ll give you that, but a ‘signature’ line should be just that – what Ed uses and nothing else. The 15-year old can get something used and work his way up to a ‘real’ instrument.

sickman: I think at some point I’ll pick up the Unchained Guitar but not right away. I’ll wait until they are down around the $600-$700 range like the other striped series guitars. Also, I could swear that there is a guy over in the guitar forum at the links, that was commenting that since this guitar no longer exists they went by old pics found on the internet for the paint scheme. Anyway he put up a pic of one he painted next to the original in a pic with Ed, and pointed out how the shape of the figure, the arrow around the volume control and the tadpoles more resembled his on the new EVH branded ones than that of Ed’s. At the time if you did a google search for the guitar his was the first pic to come up. The speculation is that they used a pic of a replica to create a replica.

I noticed the differences when I first saw the pics of it as well.. Weird that if we can spot them that Fender/EVH cannot.. maybe this is what Ed ultimately wants it to look like?

VAiN: Man, I got the itch and almost pulled the trigger on a pre-order on that striped Wolf, decided to sleep on it and it was gone the next day. $1300 is a good deal considering the limited availability and all.. If I see it again I may have to do it.

Where did you see the Striped Wolf for pre order?

Well, guitar fever got the best of me and I pulled the trigger on the Unchained Guitar.. not a bad deal – $899 at 0% for 12 months and free shipping.. I’ll update when it arrives..

That’s awesome VAiN, I will too eventually just not quite yet. I’m hoping that like the stripped series they become available for a few hundred less on ebay. There is a guy at the links that bought all 3 striped series for $760 each from a connection he has at I think GC. It appears he got bored of them quick and has the R/B/W and B/W up for sale for $600 each.

Nice, that’s a great deal if you can make it happen. I know they’ll come down a little bit after some time, but I wanted it NOW I figure the no sales tax + free shipping help offset some of that… Now the waiting starts…
