Roy Snyder’s 1982 – 1983 Van Halen soundboard master tapes.
Roy was VH’s front-of-house live sound engineer 1981 – 1983.
The 1978 San Diego board tape wasn’t his, but was purchased from the same third party who sold the tapes. Not sure who recorded it.
I’m heavily considering selling this entire collection to any big VH collector who may appreciate being the next curator. These tapes have all been digitized in high quality and shared freely in various places online. At this point in time, I think the physical history would be better appreciated in someone else’s long-term care. The collection cost $22,190 to liberate, and I know it’s not realistic to recover that full amount. Still, selling the collection can only be justified with serious offers in the five figure range, anything less and I’m better off keeping them locked away in storage. I’m also not selling in pieces, it’s all staying together. Contact me if interested enough to make a five figure offer. Otherwise, I’m sure seeing a picture of the collection is cool enough to most fans.
